Alpine Beach founder and owner Rodney Ball has deep roots in both surf and snow.
He spent many years in the 70’s shaping boards in Brookvale, eventually creating his own brand, Clear Sea Surfboards, at Mona Vale.
After blowing out an ear drum in a big swell at the start of a winter in the late 70’s and no surfing possible for several months, Rod decided on a winter in the mountains. Seasons in Australia and the US followed, including coaching the Australian Women’s Team in the mid 80’s. By the early 90’s family commitments led to wanting to stay home more and other business opportunities needing his time.
All this led to the 2005 opening of Alpine Beach Surf Snow Ride at Erina, a natural extension of decades of passion and knowledge of both industries. The same commitment and knowledge is available every day with the dedicated friendly team at Alpine Beach, your one-stop-shop for all things surf, snow and skate for all ages and ability levels.
