DICK VAN STRAALEN

DVS 5'8" HYDRO HULL TWIN FIN SURFBOARD

Dick Van Straalen is an Australian surfboard shaper who is well-known for his innovative and unique surfboard designs; perfecting his craft over 50 years. One of his most famous designs is the Hydro Hull surfboard. All of his boards are hand-shaped - a piece of Australian surfing history.

The Hydro Hull surfboard is a high-performance twin fin fish that features a unique concave bottom design. The concave bottom is divided into three sections, with a single concave in the center and double concaves on either side. This design creates a lot of lift and speed, while also providing excellent control and maneuverability. The water funnels through the hull and creates unrivalled speed and flow on waves

The Hydro Hull surfboard also features a distinctive deep swallow tail, which helps to reduce drag and increase speed. The rails of the board are thinner in the nose and tail, which allows for a lot of control and maneuverability in the water. There is still quite a solid amount of foam in the middle of the board, which allows for super easy paddling.

Overall, the Hydro Hull surfboard is a high-performance board that is designed for experienced surfers who are looking for speed, control, and maneuverability. It is a unique and innovative design that has become very popular in the surfing world, and it is definitely worth checking out if you are a serious surfer looking for a new board.

This is one of Dick's last PU boards. He is solely making EPS hydro hulls now, and even they are created at a very limited rate. This one is hand painted by DVS, and has glassed in black keel fins. Truly a piece of history.

This is one of DVS's last brand new PU boards ever! He is coming to the end of his shaping time, and strictly dealing with EPS only (and there aren't many of those around either). A piece of surfing  of history to surf and ride, before they are all gone.

It is important to remember that this is hand-shaped by the master himself - there are slight little imperfections that give this board character that aren't picked up by photos, but make the board's story sweeter.
